It's going a bit far, but consider that when Brown took office he didn't bring into his cabinet those figures from the Compass and Progress wings of Labour, but Liberals, generals, and Digby bloody Jones!
I think this is a bit of meme amongst ultra-left members of the Green Party. I've certainly come across this sort of comparison before.
